The origin of Fargegaten, or Color Street, dates back to the late 20th century. In the 1990s, a group of local artists and residents initiated a project to revitalize the once-dilapidated street. They painted the facades of the buildings in bright, cheerful colors, transforming the area into a vibrant and picturesque destination. This grassroots effort aimed to breathe new life into the historic quarter of Stavanger while celebrating the community’s creativity and spirit. Over the years, Fargegaten has evolved into a beloved tourist attraction, attracting visitors with its charming ambiance and colorful aesthetic.
