You have the right to know what personal information we process and how we process it. Right to restriction of processing. Your personal information is mainly used to offer you bus tickets, provide you with good customer service, or when you apply for a refund or compensation. We also use your information to improve and personalize our services and marketing to ensure you have the best possible customer experience. Below you will find a list of our various processing activities and the information we may process during each activity:

Buying and changing tickets

When you buy a ticket from us, we are entering into an agreement with you. We need information about you and your tickets to fulfil our part of the agreement. We need access to your active tickets so we can help you find a ticket you have purchased online.

Here we can use information such as name, contact information, customer number, payment information, search and sales.

If you want to travel with us without providing personal information, you can do this by buying a single ticket from a driver, salesperson or from a ticket vending machine. In these circumstances we will not have any information about you as a passenger, but it also means that we cannot inform you in any way other than real time onboard our busses.

Managing your profile

We want to make it easy for you to manage your profile. To do this, we need to collect information about payment methods and favorite routes from your profile, and that means we need to know who you are, how you pay and what your favorite routes are. We need access to your active and expired tickets to make it easy for you to manage your tickets via your profile. This is necessary for us to fulfil our agreement with you about the use of your profile.

Profiling

Hop On wants to personalize our services and information and make them more user-friendly. We want your customer experience to correspond to your personal preferences and needs. To do this, we use information about how you use our website and apps. We link this to other information we have received in connection with customer relationships to produce models that make it possible to communicate personalized content for you. Here we can use information such as name, contact information, customer number, payment information, search, sales and travel history, and information about how you use our products and services.

Hop On has a legitimate interest in using profiling to enable it to provide more relevant products and services.

You have the right to object to profiling. This will stop our profiling/personalization of your information and we will remove the personal information necessary for this processing.

Marketing

We use different forms of marketing to tell you about trips we think you may be interested in and to highlight the benefits of travelling with us. Such personalized marketing uses your profile information, search, sales and travel history, and information about how you use our products and services. We do this because we want to ensure you to get better and more relevant information from us.

Our marketing complies with the requirements of the Norwegian Marketing Control Act.

We will only send you such personalized marketing if you have consented to such marketing or in connection with a booking made with us.

You can withdraw your consent to marketing or manage your preferences at any time. Go to My Profile to manage your content or change your settings.

Handling customer enquiries

We need to process your personal information in order to respond to enquiries made by you as a customer via social media, email, online form, letter, chat and telephone, such as orders, changes, complaints, feedback and refund claims. This is necessary for us to fulfil our agreement with you.
We process your personal information to automate the handling of your refund or compensation cases so we can answer you faster.

We also need to check what you have done on hopon.no and in any apps provided from us in order to be able to respond to enquiries about these services, for example as part of troubleshooting.

For this purpose we use information such as name, contact information, customer number, bank account number (for payments), payment information, case information, search, sales and travel history, and information about how you use our products and services.

Improvements and troubleshooting

We are constantly working to improve our solutions. This includes troubleshooting and error correction. If you contact us to report a bug or to suggest improvements, we may collect your contact information and information about how you use our products and services. This processing is necessary for us to fulfil our agreement with you

Sending relevant travel information

We send out notifications via text message and email. You can choose the sorts of notifications you want to receive.

Additional services aimed at improving your customer experience.

To improve your customer experience, we have created services that we hope will make travelling with us easier and more comfortable. For example, we offer internet access on board our buses, send out emails about new products, offers on different locations and services related to our partners and much more.

Camera monitoring

Many of our buses are monitored by CCTV. The purpose of this monitoring is to protect life, health, and property as well as to prevent crime. Videos are automatically erased after 48 hours. Videos are only played back if there are concrete suspicions that a criminal offence has occurred or if the police ask for access. Buses fitted with CCTV have signs stating this.

Sharing personal information

We only share your personal information in the following cases:
With third parties when part of the booking includes services delivered by a third party.
With third-party suppliers who are performing tasks or work on behalf of, or pursuant to instructions from Hop On, and for the purposes specified in this privacy policy.
With public authorities upon request, for example when there are suspicions that a crime has been committed in connection with the use of our services.
We can also share aggregated data with our business partners and group companies to improve our services and analyze such data.

Storage of personal information

We do not store your personal information for longer than necessary. We will retain your profile information for as long as you have an active customer relationship with us. If you do not use your Hop On profile for three years, it will automatically be erased.

Purchase and travel history are normally erased after 410 days in line with data protection and information security standards for public transport. In some cases, we may retain information for longer where this is necessary to safeguard our interests in a complaint case or where we are required to do so by accounting and bookkeeping legislation.
